I had researched all the various models and after deciding that I didn’t need the detailed training programs and data offered by some of the more expensive Garmin units I bought the Explore 2 for its large screen, battery life and excellent navigation features.

Bought 6 weeks ago. Decent features. Maps are clear and pre-planned routes seem to work well. Gives me enough information on the ride and enough screens and graphs and things. Negatives: “live” route planning has been a bit iffy a couple of times.

Replaced my old Garmin Edge Touring as it's battery was beginning to get a bit tired. The Edge Explore 2 has a better battery life than the Edge Touring ever did - a fiver hour ride has only ever got there battery to a bit below 50%.

Game changer on managing hill climbing on my recent bike tour on the Isle of Arran. Knowing gradients and length of hills make a big difference for me and my 52yr old knees :-)

Could be more intuitive with more buttons to make changes etc the QuickStart instructions are too brief. Search facility not like a satnav you have to be within about 10 miles to find community facilities or shops restaurants or anything.

Great for finding new routes in new places, I use in conjunction with Komoot. Should have brought one years ago.

Great device, simple to use and very visible screen details.
