"Kaua'i Rooster Stories and Other Tropical Tales" is a collection of stories by Roger Lepley, an enthusiast of the stunning Hawaiian island and its countless jungle fowl.

While realizing that his scratchings about the island's drumstick-loose-and-fancy-free chicken population is nothing to crow about, Roger admits to being the intrepid "Rooster Writer" for these yarns. Never liking to be cooped up, he travels the island of Kaua'i, pecking around in search of the bizarre interactions between "Gallus gallus domesticus" and "homo sapiens."

You'll meet "Rooster Red" a talented bird that communicates occasionally with "Rooster Whisperer" Deputy Robert Moakane, who takes his talents seriously when "talking" with the birds but also understands the tongue-in-cheek nature of his uncanny abilities. The deputy recounts his experiences through the eyes --- and words - of an intrepid investigative journalist.

Also, as a special treat you'll be privy to an interview with Pele, the Goddess of Volcanoes. Hot stuff.

If you're familiar with Kaua'i you'll recognize the island's settings and the antics portrayed in the stories and in the images. In addition, the book is filled with colorful photos and images to enhance the themes of all the stories and to display the beautiful scenery of the island.

Lepley, Roger Mark

Roger Lepley is an architect and industrial designer living in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He has been a frequent visitor to the Hawaiian island of Kaua'i, where he became intrigued with all the wild roosters and hens and, since his hobby is writing humorous stories, he chose the antics of the local island jungle fowl as his target. Roger founded a design and manufacturing company in Kalamazoo which is family owned and administered.
