I had the Explorer+ and loved that the battery would last days while tracking. The only thing I didn't like was the old style texting. I ended up giving my brother my Explorer+ and I bought the 700i. I love almost everything about this GPS except that the battery wont last a day while tracking.

The GPS i bought is mounted on my dirtbike so i can better navigate when offroad and in new areas. The unit is very durable and waterproof to a point, the bright screen is large enough and easy to read whilst riding along bush tracks.

1.) Satellite acquisition is fast and even works indoors, 2.) You need to read the manual, it’s not an iPhone, 3.) Screen and touch sensitivity is excellent, 4.) Battery holds up well but carry a solar charger just in case, 5.) In-reach is Outstanding

The touchscreen on my old Garmin Montana 650t, purchased in 2011, was beginning to fail. My satellite phone rates were going up so as to be impractical. I could buy a new Montana 650t, or get the newest generation unit, the Montana 700 series.

Beautiful screen. New operating system is faster, but terms are changed from older Garmins. Tracks are now Activities. Also, I live next to Nevada/California boundary. To get the details I wanted, I bought the Garmin Hunt maps for Nevada and Northern California.

All in all its a great GPS, large screen for my old eyes. Only draw back for me is you cant just throw some AA batteries in on the trail. I understand you can spend much more cash on a new battery pack and swop it out, but thats my only complaint at this time.

Very good item. Fully recommend it for hunting and camping.
